Valley City State men’s head basketball coach Jeff Kaminsky is the North Star Athletic Association Coach of Character, an award bestowed upon a head coach outstanding in embracing the five core values of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Champions of Character Initiative — integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership — and using methods of teaching character through sport, and in community leadership through volunteering or service, the NAIA announced.

Kaminsky, as a result, is now a conference representative nominee for the 2014 NAIA Coach of Character Award.

Kaminsky earned a bachelor’s degree from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich., and a master’s degree in sports psychology from Kent State University in Ohio.
