VCSU Women Beat Presentation
The No. 13 Valley City State University women's basketball team had its highest scoring game of the year Tuesday with a 93-54 win at Presentation College in Aberdeen, S.D.
The Vikings shot 58 percent from the floor, hitting 36-62 shots, including 12 3-pointers, and every player scored at least two points.
Freshman Courtney Dixon led the Vikings with 14 points. Freshman Erika Ettl and sophomore Sierra Even both added 12 points each.
VCSU Women Fall in NAIA Poll
The Valley City State University women's basketball team dropped one spot in the latest NAIA Division II coaches poll, released Tuesday.
The Vikings dropped to No. 13 in the poll, down from No, 12 last week.
The VCSU men had no change in ranking, staying at No. 20 in their poll.
Both teams travel to Jamestown this weekend for the Dakota Tip Off Classic at the Jamestown Civic Center.
Bluejay Hockey Splits
The Jamestown High School hockey teams, which include players from Valley City, had split success Tuesday. The girls team lost 5-3 at Fargo South. The boys team beat Dickinson 6-0 at home. No individual statistics were available at press time.
The girls resume play Friday at Bismarck and the boys continues their season Saturday night in Williston.
VCHS Boys Lose to Shanley
The Valley City High School boys basketball team had three players score in double figures Tuesday, but it wasn't enough as the Hi-Liners fell 84-58 to Shanley in Fargo.
Chase Carpenter had 21 points and got help from Jared Lentz and Tayler Lentz, who had 15 and 11 points, respectively. Shanley was led by A.J. Jacobson with 19 points and had three other players score in double figures.
The VCHS boys play their last game of the month Saturday when they host Lisbon at the Hi-Liner Activity Center. Varsity tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
VCHS Wrestling Loses to South
The Valley City High School wrestling team got pins from Shane Undem and Reed Beckman, but narrowly lost in a dual Tuesday against South in Fargo.
The Hi-Liners wrestle at the Storhaug Invitational Friday and Saturday in Lisbon.

VCHS Wrestling Match Rescheduled
The final home wrestling match of the year, a dual with Grand Forks Central, has been rescheduled for Jan. 22 at the Hi-Liner Activity Center. Preliminary matches start at 6 p.m., with the varsity dual following at 7 p.m.
The meet was originally scheduled for Jan. 11 but postponed due to inclement weather.
Special Olympics Looking for Volunteers
Special Olympics North Dakota will be holding its State Winter Games in Valley City for the 2nd consecutive year Friday and Saturday.Â More than 150 participants from communities across North Dakota will compete in the sports of Unified Team Handball, Cross Country Skiing, Alpine Skiing, and Snow Shoe racing.
In addition to sports competition, events will include an Opening Ceremony and Parade of Athletes, an evening dance, and outdoor winter recreation activities.Â
