James (Jim) Didier, 74, died May 3, 2014 at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City while under hospice care.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Friday, May 9, 2014 at St Catherine’s Catholic Church in Valley City with Msgr. Dennis Skonseng celebrant. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Sanborn, ND.
On Thursday, May 8, 2014, visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm, at St Catherine’s Catholic Church. The rosary will be recited at 6:30 Thursday evening followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm in the church.
James Leon Didier was born January 16, 1940 at St Paul, MN, the son of Gereld and Agnes (Blake) Didier.
Jim grew up, attended school and graduated in Leal, ND. He served in the U.S. Army for 6 years and was in Berlin when the Berlin wall went up. After his service in the Army Jim was a rambling man. He worked in food service, sales, trucking, and manufacturing. One of Jim’s greatest joys was cooking for and being with family. He also had a special place in his heart for those who suffered in any way and especially for those with addiction. He did volunteer work for St. Mary’s Recovery Center and recognized the dignity of each and every person.
Jim was a life member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Jim is survived by the love of his life, Val, 3 stepchildren, Terri (Terry) Madsen, Tom Plaster, and Traci (Chris) Monsour, all in the St Paul, MN area and 5 grandchildren.
Jim is also survived by 2 sisters and 4 brothers, Karen (Tony) Rausch, Great Falls, MT; Len (Bonnie) Alexandria, MN; Mike (Sally) Valley City, ND; Mary (Bob) McGough, Hopewell, VA; Tom (Julie) North Platte NE; and Dcn. Ed (Deb) Valley City, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sibling Sr. Maureen Delores Didier, and nephew Fr. Darin Didier.
