Hometown Vikings Win 4 Events at NSAA Invite

(Matt Karlgaard/VCSU) Clockwise, from top left: Valley City State sophomore Jenna Coghlan won the Women’s Javelin Throw, senior Wayne Engelhard won the Men’s 1,500-meter Run and sophomore Jessica Meland won both the Women’s Shot Put and the Women’s Hammer Toss as the Vikings hosted Friday’s North Star Athletic Association Invite against Jamestown, Dickinson State and Dakota State.

Valley City State sophomore Jessica Meland won the Women’s Shot Put and the Women’s Hammer Throw, sophomore Jenna Coghlan the Women’s Javelin Throw and senior Wayne Engelhard the Men’s 1,500-meter Run as the Vikings hosted Friday’s North Star Athletic Association Invitational against Jamestown, Dickinson State and Dakota State.

Meland’s toss of 12.12 meters (39 feet, 9.25 inches) earned her the Shot Put crown before she took the top Hammer Throw spot at 50.08 meters (164 feet, 4 inches).

Coghlan came out on top in the Women’s Javelin Throw with a launch of 36.34 meters (119 feet, 3 inches).

Engelhard aced the Men’s 1500-meter Run at 4:15.74.
