Hi-Liner Tennis Hosts Conference Opener

Valley City High tennis faced Fargo South Friday in Valley for the Eastern Dakota Conference opening match, with the Bruins taking the day, 8-1.

"We are making strides as a team," Hi-Liners coach Matt Nielson said. "I would not have been able to say any match last year that everyone gave 100 percent."

In singles play, Derek Reimers of VCHS fell to South's Davis Lawley, 6-2, 6-1. Dustin Miller lost to David Youngs, 6-4, 7-6(2). Dalton Ondracek fell to Carter Steffes, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. Brandon Miller lost to Quinn DelVal, 6-4, 6-2. Jacob Wendel fell to Brett Schulz, 6-0, 6-0. Evan Haglund lost to Alex Jellison, 6-0, 6-1.
