Hi-Liner Girls Tennis Takes East No. 3 Seed

No. 3 Regional seed Hi-Liner girls tennis won a trip to State on Thursday in Grand Forks, N.D., and will face West No. 2 Bismarck Century in Thursday’s first round at the Bismarck/Mandan Area Tennis Courts.

Valley City took the No. 3 East seed with a 4-1 first-round win over No. 6 Fargo North, a 2-3 second-round setback to No. 2 West Fargo, and a 3-2 State Qualifier triumph over No. 5 Fargo Shanley.

Top seed Grand Forks Red River took the East championship, 5-0, over West Fargo.

Hi-Liner junior Clarissa Olson and 8th-grader Reagan Ingstad, the No. 3 Eastern Dakota Conference Doubles seed, qualified at third place in Friday and Saturday’s Individual Tournament. Olson, who took second last year with now-graduated senior Destiny Winkler, returns to State with Reagan Ingstad to open the Individual State Tournament against West No. 6 seed Jamestown senior Jenna Reed and sophomore Bailee Graves on Friday.

Junior Sam Coit and senior Sara Gilbertson, the No. 6 Regional seed, took the consolation championship and the East’s No. 6 seed for their second straight trip to the tournament and the right to face No. 3 West seed Bismarck High on Friday.
