Hi-Liner girls basketball held their end-of-the-season awards banquet on Sunday night following a campaign in which they broke the team record for most field goals with 523 in 24 games and set a team record for most steals with 300.

Junior guard Claire Olson’s 64 steals is the fourth-most in any season in school history.

Senior forward Dierra Diegel set a new team record of 86 steals and finished third in single-season history with 170 field goals. Her 19.7 points per game ranks fifth all-time, and her 472 total points this season ranks fourth on the all-time individual single season scoring list. Dierra Diegel completes her Hi-Liner career with 889 points, the seventh-highest all-time career individual total, and was voted All-Eastern Dakota Conference and a member of the All-State Second Team.

Valley City finished 2013-14 fourth in the Eastern Dakota Conference with a 10-8 record and an overall of 15-9, and qualified for the Class A State Tournament for the first time in nine years.
