All six Hi-Liners carded season-best rounds Wednesday at CrossRoads Golf Course in Carrington, N.D., as junior Jared Lentz’s sixth-place 76 led Valley City to seventh for four points at 330.
“Conditions were maybe the best we have had all year, which is hard to believe, as they played 18 holes in the drizzle and rain today,” Hi-Liner head coach Buff Murray said. “No wind was a big plus for the first tournament this year.”
Senior Dustin Miller shot an 83, freshman Drew Oberlander an 85, sophomore Collin Hoss an 86, freshman Levi Nix an 88, and junior Ian
Schweitzer a 90.
“I’m very happy with the way the boys played,” Murray said. “But, as the kids would say, they can all score better.”
Lentz averages a 79.67 for ninth in the Eastern Dakota Conference. Hoss averages an 89.67, Oberlander a 90.33, Miller a 90.67, Nix a 92.33, Schweitzer a 95.67.
Grand Forks Central sophomore Riley Peterson won the Invite with a 71. West Fargo senior Riley Johnson leads all individuals with a 74 average.
Fargo Davies took Wednesday’s top spot with a 307, and leads all 10 teams with 9.3 points per event and a 320.33 team average.
Valley City’s 330 is their third straight seventh-place finish, and improves upon April 22’s 354 at Village Green Golf Course in Moorhead, Minn., and May 1’s 363 at Grand Forks Country Club.
Next for the Hi-Liners is Monday’s EDC Invite at Fargo Country Club.
