Harry M. Pedersen

Harry M. Pedersen, age 96, of Valley City, ND, died Friday, January 31st at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 5th at the Marion Lutheran Church, Marion, ND. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Lerud Schuldt Funeral Home in Valley City and one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday morning. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be in LakeView Cemetery, Marion, ND in the spring.
Harry M. Pedersen was born June 5, 1917 in rural Litchville, ND. He was the first born to Gregor and Ingaborg (Olson) Pedersen. He grew up and attended school in Marion and graduated from Marion High School. He married Beulah (Bruhn) Pedersen on August 2, 1941, and the couple lived in Marion. He entered the United States Army on October 3, 1942 and served as Parts Forman in the Aleutian Islands during WWII. He was discharged on October 4, 1945 in Galesburg, IL. After his discharge, he moved back to Marion and owned and operated Marion Auto and Implement. While living in Marion, Harry served as the mayor for twelve years. In 1963, he began selling Oliver Machinery for Farmer's Union in Valley City. His lifelong sales career included selling for McCurly’s Chevorlet, John Deere, Miedema Thompson Motors, and Perkins, where he retired from in 1993. Harry was a member of the VFW, the Cooties, DAV, American Legion, AMVETS, Eagles Club, and anywhere else he could make a sale. He served on the Credit Union Board and various church boards.
Harry is survived by two sons, Dean (Betty), David (Vicki), all Valley City, ND; one daughter JoAnn (Don) Taylor, Tacoma, WA; sixteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and even several great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding Harry in death were his wife, his parents, daughter Donna, son-in-law Harley McCleary, five brothers, and three sisters.
