The couple moved on a rented farm near Spiritwood until 1957, when the land was sold to build Interstate 94.  At that time, they purchased a farm 2 miles west of Adrian, where they lived until retiring in 1985, when they moved to Adrian. During this time, Harriet sold Avon and Watkins products for over 25 years.
