Local golf
July 18 Ladies Golf at the Country Club
The low round of the day was recorded by Lori Justessen with a 46.  Jill Taylor had the low net with 30.5.  Low puttswere scored by Judy Mathias and Arlys Netland with 14s. The game of the day was "Drawings" with the winners being Judy Mathias and Amber Olson.

Softball fundraiser
The Valley City Xtreme 16U girls softball team is having several fundraisers locally to help raise money for its trip to the national tournament.
Members of the team will be serving food at the fifth hole of the NuBar golf tournament Saturday for free will donations.
The team will also be holding a brat feed Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Valley Meat.

Babe Ruth to begin districts
The Valley City Babe Ruth baseball team starts the District 6 tournament Saturday in Steele.
With the fourth seed, Valley City will open the double-elimination tournament against Linton at 11:15 a.m. Saturday. With a win, the team will play at 11:15 a.m. Sunday. If Valley City loses, the team will play at 9 a.m. Sunday in an elimination game. The second round will be against the winner/loser of Oakes vs. Lisbon.
