Fire & Rescue Squad Recovers Woman’s Body From Sheyenne River in Valley City

VALLEY CITY (NewsDakota.com) Authorities say a Valley City woman died today after she went into the Sheyenne River. The woman’s body was recovered in the river by Barnes County and Valley City Fire and Rescue Squad members Friday morning around 8:30.

Fire Chief Gary Retterath says members from the Valley City public works department working on lift station number one saw a woman in the river about 8:20 Friday morning.

The woman’s body was recovered in some downed trees near the shoreline between the Little Dam and the 8th Avenue bridge southwest. Authorities says the woman in her late 30′s was pronounced dead at the scene on Friday.
