FCT Sinks Raider Girls Late in Region 1 Semifinals

March 12, 2014

Fairmount-Campbell-Tintah freshman guard/forward Harmony Burns stole a Maple Valley inbound pass for a layup and a 34-33 lead — the Rebels’ only basket of the fourth quarter — and sophomore forward/center Madison Kaehler sank 2 of 3 free throws in the final 30 seconds to help their side hang on, 37-33, against Maple Valley in the Region 1 Tournament semifinals in Wahpeton on Tuesday night.

Maple Valley (8-0 District 2, 21-3 overall), who took second in the District 2 Tournament, faces rival District 2 Tournament third-place qualifier Oak Grove (4-4 District 2, 16-8 overall) in Thursday’s 6 p.m. Region 1 Third-Place Game at NDSCS. Maple Valley defeated Oak Grove 51-41 in Fargo on Jan. 9, and 50-41 in March 1’s District 2 Tournament semifinal at the Fargo Civic Center.
