Falcon Softball 4th at State

June 2, 2014

(Jake McNeal/Times-Record) Falcon senior Kaylee Johnson, who pitched three complete games in the tournament, fires a pitch in Friday’s 16-14 loss to defending champion and East No. 5 Central Cass.

East No. 3 Enderlin-Maple Valley’s Class B State run in Minot took a turn for the dramatic with Friday’s 16-14 loss to defending champion East No. 5 Central Cass — in which the Falcons nearly rallied from a 7-2 deficit — and Saturday’s sixth-inning sac fly that gave West No. 1 Westhope/Newburg/Bottineau the 1-0 Third-Place Game win.

“It’s not the outcome we wanted, but I’m sure it was a good pair of games for the fans,” said Falcon assistant coach Neva Hamre on Saturday. “It’s hard to play the next day after a game like that.”
