Friday, October 26 through Monday, October 29
Members of the local Boy Scout Troop 560 are selling Christmas wreaths, crosses and garlands as a fundraiser for scouting activities. To place prepaid orders, please contact Jon Jury, 2012 parent chairman at 845-1558 or 490-0148, email jljury2@msn.com. Scouts will be delivering all purchases beginning Saturday, November 17.

Friday, October 26
Full Nelson Karaoke, 8:30 p.m. to midnight in the Valley City American Legion Club rooms. Also at the same time on Nov. 16. and Dec. 14. Must be 21 or older to attend. The event supports Legion Baseball.
The 8th annual Ruckus at the Rec will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the Rec Center in Valley City. The event, featuring carnival games and prizes, is for boys and girls pre-school through 6th grade. Wear your costumes! Monetary donations are welcome, and volunteers are needed. Call the Rec Center office at 845-3294 for more information.

Saturday, October 27
The Saturday Farmers Market will meet every Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the City Auditorium (320 Central Ave. South, Valley City) until Oct. 27.
The Annual Chuck Wagon Dinner, the Valley City Congregational United Church of Christ’s major fundraiser, takes place from 11 a.m. to 1:30 P.M. this year on Saturday, Oct. 27. Attendees will receive a filling meal of roast beef with all the trimmings and a beverage. The church is located at 217 Fourth St. N.W.

Sunday, October 28
Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Sanborn, N.D. is holding their annual fall turkey supper with all the trimmings from 4-7 p.m. Bake sale/bazaar, separate tickets for quilt drawing. For more information call 646-6045.

Monday, October 29
The Valley City-Barnes County Health District will hold a free car seat check at the Barnes County Ambulance garage west of Shopko (formerly Pamida) from 3-6 p.m.
VC Retired Teachers meets Monday, October 29, noon at Sabir’s with speaker, Susanne Olson, Hospice of the RRV.

Thursday, November 1
Second Crossing Toastmasters meet every Thursday from 12-1 p.m. in the Norway Room at the VCSU Student Center.  Visitors are always welcome. Call Janet at 845-2596 for more information.

Saturday, November 3
Barnes County Auditor’s Office will be open on Saturday, Nov. 3rd from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. for Absentee Voting for the 2012 General Election.

Sunday, November 4
Tim and SueAnn Berntson family will be holding a free concert at the Elim Evangelical Free Church, 1141 9th St SW, Valley City at 3 p.m. Pie and coffee to follow.

Monday, November 5 through Friday, November 9
Jefferson and Washington Elementary Schools in Valley City will host their annual Scholastic Book Fair in the libraries of their schools Nov. 5-9 during school hours. Funds raised will help purchase books for the libraries. The libraries will also be open Nov. 8 until 8 p.m. The book fair is open to the public.

Wednesday, November 7
Valley City Barnes County Public Library will host story hour from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the library. The theme will be “Chocolate Daze.” Kristi Shanenko and eighth graders will be the speakers.

Sunday, November 11
St Paul’s Lutheran WELCA Bake/Soup and Sandwich Lunch will be held from 11 a.m to 1:30 p.m. at the Tower City Community Hall, Tower City N.D. A raffle will be held for a handmade quilt and afhgan.

Monday, November 12
The Region VI Parent Resource Center will be holding a divorce education class, “Crossroads of Parenting and Divorce” at Head Start, 101 College St. SW, in Valley City from 6 to 8 p.m.  Class is free and childcare is available. Please call the Barnes County Extension Service at 845-8528 to register.  Class is sponsored by NDSU Extension Service and ND Department of Human Services - Children & Family Services Division.
 
Tuesday, November 13
An On the Move 2013 preview will be held from 12-1 p.m. at the Hi-Liner Activity Center lobby. Free smoothie samples will be served.

Wednesday, November 14
Valley City Barnes County Public Library will host story hour from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the library. Carole Flatau will be the speaker.

Thursday, November 15

The 9th annual North Dakota State Coin Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Doublewood Inn  (3333 13th Ave. S,  Fargo) The show will feature over 50 dealers showing coins, currency, foreign coins, stamps and tokens.
