Saturday, February 9
Bluegrass jam is scheduled from 1-5 p.m. at the Barnes County Museum. The acoustic jam is free and open to the public and beginning musicians are welcome. For more information call John Andrus at 701-762-4891.

Tuesday, February 12
The regular monthly NARFE meeting will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at noon at the Valley City Senior Center. Dean Koppelman, Superintendent of the Valley City Public School  will be our speaker for this meeting. Also on the agenda is continued planning for the State NARFE Convention to be held in May of 2013.  PLease bring a prospective member and an item for the food pantry.”

Wednesday, February 13
Story hour will be held at the Valley City-Barnes County Public Library from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Charlene Schrock will be the guest speaker.

thursday, February 14
A pinochle tournament will be held at 1:15 p.m. at the Senior Center.

Friday, february 15
Full Nelson Karaoke will be held from 8:30 p.m. to midnight in the Valley City American Legion Club rooms. Must be 21 or older to attend. The event supports Legion Baseball.
The Valley City Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring an agriculture banquet, with a social beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Valley City Eagle’s Club. A dinner and program, featuring Larry O Variety Comedy Show, begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the Rosebud Visitor’s Center.

Hole Drilling Contest and Ice Fishing Derby at Ashtabula Crossing, event throughout the day starting at 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Crossing is located 15 miles north of Valley City, 18 miles south of Cooperstown, 20 miles west of Page or 10 miles east of Dazey. District 24 Republicans Lincoln Day BBQ, 5:30 p.m. social, 6 p.m. supper at the Dacotah Pavilion/Chautauqua Park in Valley City. Guest Speaker Senator John Hoeven.

Monday, February 18
Garden Club meets at 7 p.m. in the Eagles Past President Room. Meeting is to decide July Flower Show theme and design titles.
A blood drive will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Grace Free Lutheran Church in Valley City. Call Elaine at 845-9972 for an appointment.

Wednesday, February 20
Story hour will be held at the Valley City-Barnes County Public Library from 10:30 to 11 a.m. The theme will be “Rabbits, Wabbits, Rabbits.”

thursday, February 21
Supper at the Senior Center, featuring pork chops, will begin at 5:30 p.m. The entertainment will be Peter Farrelly, “Wear Red.”

tuesday, February 26
Valley City Public School 2013-14 Kindergarten Registration, 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Jefferson School art room in the new addition. Please be aware that North Dakota Century Code requires children to turn five years old prior to August 1st to be eligible for kindergarten. Please bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate and a copy of your child’s completed immunization record.

Wednesday, February 27
Story hour will be held at the Valley City-Barnes County Public Library from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Sandy Goeller and crew will be the guest speakers.

thursday, February 28
A whist tournament will be held at 1:15 p.m. at the Senior Center.

March 5-10
76th Annual North Dakota Winter Show 2013 is the home of the oldest and longest running Agriculture Show in the State of North Dakota. The North Dakota Winter Show is held annually in March and provides a great deal of agriculture information to participants of all ages. The NDWS attracts exhibitors and visitors from many states and Canada with attendance increasing each year. The North Dakota Winter Show Event Center is home to a variety of other activities including a number of horse shows and events, sales, entertainment and 4-H events. We invite you to check out the events held at the North Dakota Winter Show Event Center and become a part of what the North Dakota Winter Show is all about.
