Elsie Marie Jensen was born Feb. 23, 1929 at Cooperstown, ND the daughter of Einar and Jensina Jensen. She attended country schools in the Hannaford and Walum areas before moving with her family to Sibley, ND where she completed school. While growing up there Elsie had a white horse named Silver that was her pride and joy. In April of 1945 she was married to Edward Heinze. A devoted farm wife she milked cows, cleaned, and cooked while raising her family. In 1974 Elsie began her own housekeeping business, Chore Girls. She worked hard and saved her money and took her first trip to Denmark. Her oldest brother Einar was raised in Denmark. He did not come to the United States with the family. This was the first time they had met. Elsie ran her business for over 25 years and at the same time drove school bus for the Luverne School. She moved to Jamestown, ND and married Sylvester Kunze. They moved to Clarkston, WA but Elsie later returned to make her home at Sibley, ND. This past year she had been a resident of the Cooperstown Medical Center.
Elsie made several trips to Denmark during her lifetime but had the opportunity to host her brother Einar and his family on a trip to the US. She was “the” coffee maker for years at the Dazey BBQ and also helped at many of the Sodbuster and St. Mary’s Church functions. She was an American Legion Auxiliary member. She worked hard her entire life (always with a smile) and looked forward to hosting her family for a big Sunday dinners. Her grandchildren were always a source pride to her.
Elsie leaves to mourn her passing her 4 sons: Tony (Barbara) Heinze, Mike (Cindy) Heinze, and Kenny (Mary) Heinze all of Dazey, ND and Andy (Cheryl) Heinze, LaMoure, ND; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and a sister, Ruth Postle, Cooperstown, ND.
