Diegel, Class A All-Stars Roll in OT

July 16, 2014

Valley City graduate forward Dierra Diegel (20), pictured posting up on Grant County guard/forward Ashley Werner (21), scored 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting, went 3-for-3 from the line and pulled down eight rebounds as the Class A All-Stars erased a 61-56 deficit with 1:35 to play for Tuesday’s 79-68 overtime win at the Bismarck Civic Center.

Dierra Diegel scored 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting, went 3-for-3 from the line and pulled down eight rebounds as the 38th Lions Class A Girls Basketball All-Stars erased a five-point deficit with 1:35 left, forced overtime and cruised to a 79-68 win Tuesday at the Bismarck Civic Center.

“It’s an honor,” said Diegel, the 5-foot-10-inch Hi-Liner forward who practiced with Bismarck Century head coach Ron Metz and Class A twice on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. “I don’t remember the last time someone from Valley City was selected.”

Diegel is the first Valley City All-Star alumnus since Jossy Bergan in 2006.

Class B, coached by Shiloh Christian’s Jim Petrik, seeks revenge at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Fargo Civic Center.
