December Blood Drive Successful

January 22, 2013

Special to the Times-Record

Valley City blood drive coordinator Pastor Dan Forsberg and the Trinity Lutheran Church have sponsored a successful blood drive. The two-day drive held in Valley City on Dec. 20 and 21 saw 94 people volunteer to donate blood and 83 were able to give. Twenty-eight people gave blood on the automated 2RBC machine which collects two units of red blood cells during the donation, so a total of 111 products were collected. One of the donors gave blood for the first time.

Others who assisted with the drive were: Karen Magnuson, Marleen Pytlik, Patricia Beil, Marge Bessette, Margaret Grotberg, Doris Burdick, Margie Eggert, Kim Wittenberg, Amy Anderson, Edna Elsner. Leevers County Market donated juice for both days. Space to hold the drive was provided at the Trinity Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.

The availability of blood is dependent on the success of blood drives held in many communities. The citizens of the Valley City area can be assured that their community is a good example of a well-run blood program.

The staff of United Blood Services, on behalf of the patients who receive blood, wish to thank all who volunteered to donate blood and who helped organize the drive.
