VCHS Wrestling takes 6th in Jamestown
The Valley City High School wrestling team took sixth at the Knights of Columbus tournament over the weekend in Jamestown.
The Hi-Liners had seven wrestlers finish in the top four of their division, including three who wrestled in the championship match.
Zach Doty won the championship at 170 pounds, pinning Darren Crissler in 3:45. Shane Undem (160) and Jaiden Opatz (195) both lost in the championship matches at their divisions, taking second place.
Reed Beckman (145) and Jakob Ashline (120) both won their third place matches. Taylor Johnson (152) and Mark Miller (138) lost in third place matches.
The team continues its season with its first home match of the year Thursday. The Hi-Liners will face Carrington in a dual at 7 p.m. at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.
VCHS Gymastics Takes 2nd in Opener
The Valley City High School gymnastics team took 2nd place Saturday at the Eagles Invite in Fargo.
The Hi-Liners lost only to defending state champion Minot, who won the meet with 137.1 points. VCHS had 130.475 points to beat Davies, Grand Forks and Fargo.
Sara Gilbertson was the only Hi-Liner to place as an individual, taking third in the vault with an 8.65.
VCHS hosts its first of four home meets at 5 p.m. Friday at the Youth Sports Complex near Hanna Field.
VCSU Basketball On the Road Tonight
The Valley City State University mens and womens basketball teams continue their season tonight at the University of Minnesota â€” Morris.
The womens game is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff and the men are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. A webcast of the game will be streamed at csn.morris.umn.edu.
