The North Dakota Highway Patrol Thursday released the names of six men who died in a crash between a semitrailer and a pickup on Interstate 94 near Jamestown Wednesday. The accident happened on eastbound Interstate 94 at mile marker 258.
Sgt. Josh Rude said the six men were in a westbound pickup truck when the driver lost control. The pickup went through the median and was struck on the passenger side by an eastbound semitrailer. The semi trailer was being driven by 23-year old Stuart Hauge.
Those who died in the pickup truck were Martin Zuniga, 47, of Republic, Mo.; Mayolo Lopez, 51, of Springfield, Mo.; Albino Galicia Martinez, 43, of Springfield, Mo.; Epitacio Acosta Padron, 50, of Springfield, Mo.; Jose Isabel Avila, 54, of Springfield, Mo.; and Herson Orellana, 34, of Nixa, Mo.
Hauge was taken to the Jamestown Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
According to the highway patrol, light snow was falling on the ice-covered road at the time of the crash.
The pickup truck was destroyed. Damages to the semitrailer were estimated at $40,000. The accident was still under investigation Thursday afternoon.
