Valley City High School distance runners Allyson Suhr (left) and April Berntson kept it close during the 1,600 meter run in Carrington Tuesday. Suhr took second place in the event with a time of 5:37.31, beating Berntson by .21 seconds. The girls team took second place at the Carrington meet with 77 points and the boys took 11th. The Hi-Liner girls didn’t win any events, but had a second/third finish from Molly Willson and Jenna Jacob in the 100 meter dash. Willson took fourth in the 200 dash, Bekah Peterson took fifth in both the 300 meter hurdles and the triple jump. Berntson also took fourth in the high jump. The 4x100 and 4x200 meter relay teams also took second and third. On the boys side, Paul Viland won the pole vault and the 4x200 relay team took fifth place.
