Can VC Have a Movie Theater Again?

May 6, 2013

Residents gather for a movie at The Piller theater, a former movie theater in Valley City located in what is now the Dutton's Valley Gallery building, on opening night in 1925.

Jennifer Feist, director of development for the Valley City-Barnes County Development Corp., said residents in Valley City want a movie theater back, and there are plenty of options for re-establishing one.
The Development Corp. is looking for someone interested in being an owner/operator of a theater, with plenty of options available for location.
Feist said she's also received inquiries about individuals seeking to be silent partners just because they feel the city needs a movie theater again.
Valley City has been without a movie theater since February 2012, when Wayne Loberg, owner of Theater I & II, retired.
"The movie theater is a big part of the community. It's an important business, and I think a community of our size really needs to have a nice movie theater," Feist said. "It's a service that is really sadly missed."
