BREAKING: Two Valley City Businesses Burglarized

August 1, 2014

Two Valley City businesses were burglarized overnight Thursday. Between midnight and 7 a.m. Friday, someone entered the Deitrich and Sons bus barn and Truck and Auto Salvage, both on 14th Avenue Southwest.

Employees returning to work at Truck and Auto Salvage Friday discovered a floor safe had been broken into and an unknown amount of money missing.

At Dietrich and Sons, employees found several items, including a big-screen television and hand tools, stacked near a doorway at Dietrichs prepped for easy removal but were left behind for unknown reasons, according to VCPD Chief Fred Thompson.

It appears both burglaries were committed by the same suspect(s).
VCPD officers conducted a search of the surrounding area and were unable to locate any suspects at this time, said Thompson.

It is possible that the burglary at Dietrich and Sons was interrupted by a shift change at a nearby business and that there are witnesses to the crime who were not aware a crime was being committed. VCPD is attempting to locate these potential witnesses.

This investigation is continuing and VCPD is requesting anyone with information on this cast to call (701) 845-3110.
