Valley City State sophomore right fielder Brady Anderson is the NAIA Baseball National Player of the Week, the NAIA announced Tuesday.
Anderson earned the distinction, for which he was chosen from a pool of conference, independent and unaffiliated group winners, based on his performances between March 24 and March 30.â€¨â€¨Anderson, a Jamestown, N.D. native, hit .593 in six games last week (16-of-27) including four doubles, a triple and three home runs. His best performance came in the first of three Viking wins with March 25's 23-8 rout of rival Dickinson State. Anderson hit for the cycle and finished with four hits, five runs and eight RBIs, and followed it with four more hits and five more RBIs in Valley City Stateâ€™s 9-1 March 6 win. Anderson recorded eight extra-base hits, scored 11 runs and drove in 16 runs in the week.
Anderson is now batting .467 on the season and slugging .761. He has scored 20 runs, driven in 31 runs and landed 10 doubles, four triples and three home runs in 23 games. On the year, Anderson is among the NAIA leaders at 14th with four triples, 32nd with 70 total bases reached and 36th in total runs batted in with 31.View more articles in:
