The Barnes County Historical Society Lecture Series Season 14 Presents: “Joseph DeMasi: REAL Italian Cooking” 7PM Thursday March 8 at the Barnes County Museum.

Italian American food has become extremely popular in this country with pizza places and “Olive Garden”s everywhere. People have the idea that to cook like an Italian it is only a matter of opening a can or jar, but come and find out what Italian Americans REALLY eat, how they eat and how they view food. Watch as a basic pasta dish is prepared. Find out why pasta comes in so many different shapes. Enjoy many REAL Italian American foods you’ve never had or heard of before including stuffed artichokes, roasted red peppers, copanata and cannolis.

Joseph DeMasi is a noted musician, singer/songwriter and children’s artist. He was born and raised in New York City. His grandparents immigrated from Italy at the turn of the century and he grew up eating all of the great foods Italian Americans dined on. After his mother died when he was 23, he moved out on his own and realized he missed all of the foods he had grown up with, so taught himself how to cook. He now loves sharing with others. “For Italians, food equals love”, says Joseph. “I LOVE to cook and I LOVE to eat.” Mangiamo!!

The public is cordially invited

All Lectures are at the Barnes County Historical Society Museum and held in conjunction with Valley City State University. They are free and open to the public.
