Babe Ruth Takes Season Sweep of LaMoure

LaMoure gave visiting Valley City trouble with multitudes of runners on base Tuesday night at Townsend Park, but eight Babe Ruth batters landed at least a hit in the 12-5 District win, as did seven in the 13-3 finisher, to complete the four-game season sweep.

“Our pitching wasn’t as sharp as it has been, and we had for find ways to overcome it,” Babe Ruth head coach Lance Lukes said. “Scoring in six of seven innings is one of those ways that we helped: it gave our pitchers some backing to know that we will come up with some runs to support them.”

Valley City previously defeated LaMoure 12-2 in June 3’s District home-opening win, then Bryce Nelson’s fifth-inning walk-off single to right notched an 11-10 non-conference win.
