Babe Ruth Sweeps Oakes

June 10, 2014

(Jake McNeal/Times-Record) Cole McGough pitched a complete game on two hits, two unearned runs, a walk and eight strikeouts in Monday night’s five-inning 16-2 District win at Charlie Brown Field, and batted 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. McGough also scored a run in Valley City’s 12-0 non-District follow-up win.

Drew Oberlander drove home five runs and scored two more in Monday’s 16-2 five-inning District win over Oakes, then Riley Miller’s two-walk, four-strikeout no-hitter highlighted a three-inning 12-0 non-District nightcap.

“It was great to see the boys aggressive early in the contest,” Valley City head coach Lance Lukes said. “Riley did what has become expected of Riley to do: he just pitched strikes and let our defense help him out.”
