Babe Ruth Rolls Over Edgeley, 32-1, for Season Sweep

(Jake McNeal/Times-Record) Rylee Bjork pitched a five-inning, five-walk, four-strikeout no-hitter as Valley City Babe Ruth scored 32 runs on 31 hits to trounce Edgeley at Charlie Brown Field on Tuesday, 32-1.

Dawson Dietrich landed five of 31 Valley City hits on Tuesday as Babe Ruth scored 13 first-inning runs, six in the second, seven in the third and six in the fourth to demolish Edgeley, 32-1.

Rylee Bjork’s five-inning, five-walk, four-strikeout no-hitter did the rest to complete the season sweep.

“Today was a great example of how hitting can be contagious,” Babe Ruth head coach Lance Lukes said. “Everyone was up there with confidence at the plate and put good swings on the ball, and produced with many hits. Rylee did what any pitcher should do with the lead he was given — he just threw strikes and let our defense play behind him and help him out.”

Valley City (11-1 District, 21-6 overall) heads to Ellendale, N.D. on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. District doubleheader.
