VC Extreme Struggles at National Tournament
The Valley City Extreme 16U softball team will try to avoid elimination today after losing its first three games at the Northern Nationals tournament in Greenfield, Wisc.
Valley City started the tournament with a 6-0 loss to the Greenfield Ignitors Wednesday. In the game Valley City had six runners stranded, five in scoring position.
The Extreme's offense returned for Wednesday's 11-7 loss to the Northern Illinois Lightning. Valley City went up 3-0 in the first inning but allowed four runs in the third and ended the game down after allowing 11 runs on only five hits. The game was also shortened due to a time limit.
Valley City started bracket play Thursday with a 9-1 loss to the St. Louis-based Wild Bunch. Valley City's only run scored was the game's leadoff hitter, Betsy Asp.
The Extreme started its elimination game at 8 a.m. today.
Ladies Golf for August 1 at the Valley City Town and Country Club
Lori Justessen recorded the low scratch score of 48 and Connie Maresh and Judy Mathias tied for low net of 31.5. The lowest putts went to Nancy King.
Game of the day was "drawings" and winners were Gigi Goven and Nancy King. The game of the day for Aug. 8 will be "Tic Tac Toe".
NDSU Sells Out Home Football Games
North Dakota State University announced Thursday that it has sold out of tickets for all 2012 home football games.
Additional reserved and standing room tickets may become available on the Friday of game week. Please check GoBison.com/tickets for availability.
“We certainly anticipated demand for tickets this year to be at an all-time high and being sold out this early confirms that. We are pleasantly surprised and really appreciate the passion and support our fans have shown for Bison Football,” said NDSU Director of Athletics Gene Taylor.
“We encourage everyone that was not able to obtain a ticket to please continue to monitor availability the week of each game and also we hope all of our season ticket holders that cannot make a game please make sure your tickets get in the hands of someone who can use the tickets. We would like to see every seat full for every game this year. Thanks again for your support for Bison Athletics.”
