AmericInn Burglarized

May 19, 2014

AmericInn's surveillance video caught this image of a male burglarizing the business early Monday morning.

Just before 4 a.m. Monday, an unidentified male entered the AmericInn in Valley City and left with the business safe and money from the front desk.

The suspect, who was caught on surveillance video, was approximately six feet tall and was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt and dark blue pants. The man's face was covered by his hood and a dark cloth, according to Valley City Police Department Chief Fred Thompson.

The suspect left from a rear door in the area of the office and was last seen running around the southeast corner of Bridges Bar and Grill. In the process of running away, the suspect dropped the safe and escaped with an undetermined amount of cash.

An attempt to locate the suspect was immediately unsuccessful.
This investigation is continuing and will be handled by the Valley City Police Department. Anyone with information on this incident should call the VCPD at (701) 845-3110.
