American Legion to Hold Flag Burning Ceremony

The United States flag flies high at the Veterans Memorial Park in Valley City Friday afternoon. The United States Flag Code has various guidelines for properly flying and respecting the flag. People can properly dispose of their flags Friday during a flag burning ceremony at the American Legion in Valley City.

Local Boy Scouts will conduct a flag burning ceremony at the American Legion this Flag Day. Those who attend can learn how to properly dispose of damaged United States flags. Properly disposing of the U.S. flag is one part of the United States Flag Code that lists guidelines for properly displaying and respecting the flag.
Friday, June 14 at 6:30 p.m., Boy Scouts from troop 560, under the direction of scout master Dave Gazeley, will conduct a ceremony for flags to be properly retired.
Anyone that has a flag that needs to be retired in the proper manner are encouraged to deliver their flag to the American Legion Club rooms any time prior to the ceremony. Everyone is invited to attend the patriotic and public ceremony on Friday.
