2 teens finalists in driver contest

April 19, 2012

Two students at Valley City High School are among five finalists for the billboard competition in the North Dakota Department of Transportation’s ND Teen Driver Contest, however their names will not be released until the contest is over.

This will be the third annual contest the NDDOT has put on in partnership with AAA North Dakota and the North Dakota Safety Council, and VCHS students have become a common sight in the finals.

Rugby High School won the first contest in 2009, but in 2010 VCHS students Erika Lutjens, Dariann Loibl and Lauren Groth took first, second and third place in the billboard competition, respectively.

The competition also features a 30-second video contest as well and Barnes County North also had at least one student in the finals, but his, hers or their names will not be released as well.

Other schools recognized with finalists in the running are Bismarck Career Academy, Milnor Public School, New Testament Baptist School (Larimore), Garden Valley School (Williston), Hazen High School and Hope High School.

Voting for the contest can be done online at www.ndteendrivers.com/contest.
