The Sheyenne Care Center staff and residents in Valley City recently saw the addition of two new faces.
Cynthia Smith will take over as director of nursing, while Valley City native John Ziemba will be the new employee recruiter.
Smith moved to North Dakota from South Carolina in June of 2001 when she accepted a job as director of nursing in Rugby, eventually becoming the administrator of the Rugby Long Term Care Program.
She received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Clemson University in Clemson S.C. in 1984 and a master’s degree in nursing from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Ga., in 1993. While working in Rugby she also earned a nursing home administrator’s license.
Smith is a committee member and primary nurse planner for the N.D. Long Term Care Association where she plans and documents continuing education activities. She is also part of the the National American Association of Critical Care Nurses, National Association of Directors of Nursing and the Regional American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.
Ziemba graduated Valley City High School in 2006 and was a starting fullback for the Valley City State University football team as he studied business management and finance while working as a certified nursing assistant at the Sheyenne Care Center.
Ziemba said he is very excited to have earned his current spot on the Care Center team.
“It will be no problem to encourage people to work here at the Care Center. It’s a great place and you get to work with great people – employees and residents alike,” he said.
