Four members of the Valley City State University womens basketball team scored in double figures as they rolled to a 78-38 win over Johnson and Wales (Colo.) University Tuesday in Denver.
Sierra Even came off the bench and led the Vikings with 12 points. Brittany Lehner followed with 11 points, and Katie Ralston and Alyssa Hummel added 10 each to help lead the Vikings to victory.
Valley City State shot 51.6 percent from the floor including 8-15 (53.3 percent) from the 3-point line in the win. Their defense limited the host team to 28.9 percent shooting on the night while forcing 23 turnovers.
The win moves the 17th ranked Vikings to 10-1 on the season and extends their win streak to ten straight.
The Viking women will travel to Naples, Fla., after Christmas for a two-day tournament that includes games with Concordia (Calif.) University Dec. 28 and Daemen (N.Y.) College on the 29th.

Viking Men Lose 74-69
The No. 15-ranked VCSU men led by nine points at the break, but a strong second half surge pushed Johnson and Wales to a 74-69 win Tuesday.
In a game that saw 67 total free throws shot between the two teams, it was the hot shooting from beyond the arc that sunk the Vikings' ship. Johnson and Wales shot 7-11 (63.6 percent) from 3-point range to fuel a second half comeback in which they outscored Valley City State by 14 points for the comeback victory.
Senior Sekani Milligen scored a game high 31 points in the victory, including shooting 10-11 from the free-throw line. Aaron Duske also hit double figures with 11 for the Vikings. Gus Kueber led Valley City State on the boards, pulling down eight.
The road loss drops the Vikings to 9-3 on the season and snaps their five game winning streak. Valley City State will travel to the Whittier College Tournament in Whittier, Calif. for a two-game tournament Dec. 29-30.

VCHS Girls Remain Undefeated
The Valley City High School girls basketball team remained undefeated with a 65-56 win at Davies High School Tuesday night in Fargo.
The Hi-Liners led 32-23 at halftime and held on to improve to 3-0 this season.
The team wraps up its pre-Christmas schedule Thursday night in Lisbon.

Undem Named Wrestler of the Week
The Farmers Union Insurance wrestler of the week is Shane Undem.

Undem captured his third Valley City Holiday Tournament Championship of his career on Saturday December 15 at the Hi-liner Activity Center.
Shane breezed through the 160lbs weight class with two pins and a technical fall.
Shane has a season record of 15 wins against 2 losses and has 105 wins in his varsity career.
