Dietrich, Suhr 1-Hit Wishek

June 27, 2014

Dawson Dietrich and Garret Suhr threw back-to-back five-inning District one-hitters as Valley City Babe Ruth swept Wishek 12-0 and 14-0 Thursday night at Charlie Brown Field.

“This was a good bounce-back for our boys today after a tough one yesterday [a 3-2 District loss at Napoleon],” Valley City head coach Lance Lukes said. “Both pitchers today did what they needed to do, and threw strikes with the lead they were given. Today was just one of those days at the plate where guys found spots where the defenders couldn’t make a play on it.”

June 25, 2014

“Our pitching wasn’t as sharp as it has been, and we had for find ways to overcome it,” Babe Ruth head coach Lance Lukes said. “Scoring in six of seven innings is one of those ways that we helped: it gave our pitchers some backing to know that we will come up with some runs to support them.”
