May 7, 2014

Hi-Liner softball endured West Fargo’s 10-run fourth inning in Tuesday’s 15-3 opening defeat, then tightened up the defense but fell 7-1 in game two.

“I was glad that, in the second game, we didn’t just fall apart,” Valley City head coach Jason Lindgren said. “We could have come back and fallen apart and given up 10 or 11 runs in the second one, too, but we didn’t ... the top of the order’s got to start hitting — they’re the ones you count on, and that’s why they’re in the top of the order — and they haven’t done that for the last couple games.”

May 6, 2014

The older kids were gone for the New York Trip, so we went with sophomores and juniors. It’s a real indication of where we may fit for Regionals [May 17 at Cushman Field in Grand Forks, N.D.]: where can we get personal bests, where can they best qualify, and where can they help us out the most?”
