Lady Hi-Liner basketball visited Jamestown on Saturday night for their first game in two weeks, and senior forwards Dierra Diegel and Danica Diegel's double-doubles propelled Valley City to a 59-48 win.
Dierra Diegel led Valley City with 20 points, 10 rebounds and six steals. Danica Diegel put up 11 points, 13 rebounds, an assist and a steal. Senior guard Jessica Denholm added 17 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals of her own.
Hi-Liner wrestling, ranked 10th among North Dakota Class B varsity teams, took their talents to Fargo for the Rumble on the Red Wrestling Championships, from which Valley City took 21st of 69 varsity teams, ninth of 64 junior varsity teams and a 182-pound championship from senior Dustin Lindgren.

Blue Cross Blue Shield's call center in Valley City recently added eight jobs to its office, bringing a total of 19 employees. An Economic Policy Institute study showed that each of the eight new jobs adds approximately $115,000 in economic impact, which is close to $1 million total.
Linda Skramstad, the call center's team leader, said eight new employees started Sept. 16. She said the jobs were added because it was anticipated they'd need more customer service representatives based on the new healthcare reform.

Pioneer Park Warming House, located at 800 NW 4th Street, opened for the season on Saturday, Valley City Park District announced Friday.
Warming House hours are Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m., and Saturday & Sunday from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Christmas Eve hours are 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Dec. 26 - Jan. 3 hours are 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Regular season hours begin Jan. 4.
The Warming House, according to policy, closes if the temperature drops to 10 degrees below zero or fewer, or if the wind chill is 19 below or less.
