Lady Hi-Liners Take Down No. 5 Fargo Davies

Senior forward Dierra Diegel scored 30 points and senior guard Jessica Denholm 24 more on 2-of-3 shooting from three-point range as Valley City defeated Eastern Dakota Conference rival and Class A No. 5-ranked Fargo Davies, 72-57, on the road Saturday night for their seventh straight win.

Lehner Makes Academic All-District Team

Valley City State University senior Brittany Lehner has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Second Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America, an honor bestowed upon student-athletes who excel on the court, in the classroom and in the community, VCSU announced Friday.

Viking Men's 2nd-Half Rally Falls Short

Valley City State rallied from a 16-point halftime deficit, but couldn't complete the comeback as they fell 71-69 Wednesday night to rival University of Jamestown.

It was the first meeting between the two schools as members of the new North Star Athletic Association. The Jimmies struck first, building an early 23-7 lead they would never relinquish. Valley City cut the lead down to 2 points in the final minute, but Brequan Tucker made two free throws with 6.8 seconds left, putting the Jimmies up 71-67 and icing the game.

Viking Women Take No. 5 Jimmies to the Wire

The rivalry lived up to the hype Wednesday night as Valley City State hosted University of Jamestown in women's basketball.

The Vikings gave No. 5 Jamestown everything it could handle, but in the end the visiting Jimmies walked away with a hard-fought 77-74 victory.

Loboes sophomore guard Drew Thielges scored 29 points on 6-of-10 shooting from three-point range, junior forward Anthony Olson recorded a 19-point, 13-rebound double-double and sophomore center Quinn Alo posted 12 more points in Thursday night's 66-54 home win against District 5 rival Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier.
