Precision Ag Summit in Jamestown

January 20, 2014

A Precision Agriculture Summit is set today (Monday) and Tuesday in Jamestown, said Sadie Rudolph of Flint Communications. Times for the summit will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, and will take place at the North Dakota Farmers Union Conference Center, 1415 12thAve. SE. Group Raising Money to Provide Service Dogs to ND Vets

A local group of people called, Team Paws4WARD, plans to host a "Purses for a Purpose" event to secure funds for North Dakota veterans in need of a service dog for their invisible wounds, said Crystal Nehlich, who's on the team with Karmel Wanzek and Nathan McGough.

Maple Valley Girls Three-peat at Barnes County Tournament

Top-seeded Maple Valley claimed their third straight Barnes County Girls Basketball Tournament championship on Saturday with a 45-30 win over No. 2 Enderlin.

LaMoure/Litchville-Marion took third place by beating Sargent Central, 55-50.

Barnes County North finished fifth by beating Griggs County Central, 28-24.

Hi-Liner wrestling is up to No. 5 in the North Dakota Class A Coaches’ Poll and No. 3 in the East Region, according to the third and latest poll released Thursday.

Hi-Liner Wrestling Takes 5th at Storhaug Invite

Valley City sophomore Jordan Magnuson won the 220-pound title, sophomore Jakob Ashline took fourth in the 132-pound class, senior Reed Beckman third at 138, seniors Mark Miller and Masyn Olson a respective third and eighth at 160, senior Zach Doty second at 182 and senior Dustin Lindgren sixth at 195 as the Hi-Liners took fifth with 136 team points at the 20-team Storhaug Invitational in Lisbon on Friday and Saturday.

Lady Hi-Liners Stand up to Lisbon

Lady Hi-Liner senior forwards Madison Taylor and Dierra Diegel,
senior guard Jessica Denholm and junior guard Clarissa Olson all scored double-digit points on Friday night as Valley City beat visiting Lisbon, 71-52, for their third straight win and their fourth in their last five games.

New Equipment for VCFD

Valley City Fire Department Chief Gary Retterath and Ken Astrup, General Manager of Dakota Plains in Valley City, display one of the four struts recently purchased by the fire department.
A $2,000 contribution from Dakota Plains and a matching contribution from Land O Lakes assisted the VCFD with the purchase.
