3 Top-3 Hi-Liner Team Finishes at Valley City State XC Invite

Hi-Liner cross country ran in the six-team VCSU Cross Country Meet on Friday and came away with several strong performances.

Eighth-grader Mikayla Wolla won the Girls Junior Varsity division as the JV girls took the title.

Mikaylah Ross won the girls’ varsity division race, and the girls placed 2nd as a team.

Casey Engelhard was again the Hi-Liner boys Varsity leader in sixth place as the team took third.

Jack Jordan ran a near-two-minute Junior Varsity personal record.

Valley City heads to Cooperstown on Saturday, Sept 6.

O'Reilly Auto Parts to Open in VC

August 29, 2014

An O'Reilly Auto Parts store will open in Valley City tomorrow. Located at 1411 West Main Street, the new store will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12-6 p.m. Sundays. The store is open Labor Day from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Josh Liebersbach of Valley City will manage the store.

David Broadwell, district manager, of Valley City said construction on the new building began in May. The company is always expanding and adds new stores every year.

Family Looking for Stories of Former VC Professor

The family of a former Valley City professor wants his students, colleagues, friends and others who knew him to share messages and stories about the Chamberlain, S.D. native who passed away July 3.

Jill Bode, niece of Robert Bode, 65, said the family is trying to get a collection of stories together about Robert.

VC Drivers License Office Hours Changed

Effective Sept. 1, many Drivers License offices across North Dakota will have new hours and/or days of service. These changes are being made in an effort to better meet the needs of customers at high demand times and locations.

Valley City's Drivers License office will be open the first and third Wednesday of each month from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jamestown's office will be open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and Fargo's office will be open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Tammy Sadek: Andrew was Murdered

Tammy Sadek believes her son Andrew was murdered.

In an interview with KFGO radio Tuesday, Tammy said her son was not suicidal and called upon North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenhjem to investigate his death and the actions of the law enforcement agency that investigated her son for allegedly selling marijuana; the agency Tammy claimed was bullying her son.

The Valley City Times-Record plans to run a historical photograph each week on Thursdays submitted by our readers.

Wes Anderson, curator of the Barnes County Historical Society Museum agreed to start off the series and give our readers an idea what we are hoping will be submitted with this photo from the museum archives.

Photos can be of events or places in Barnes County from 10, 20, 30 years ago, or even older. We will publish at least one submitted photograph every week in the Valley City Times-Record.
