Spiritwood Ethanol Plant Soon Running

The Dakota Spirit AgEnergy ethanol plant is scheduled to start accepting corn as early as April 1, and should be on-line May 1. The plant should be fully operational by August.

BREAKING:VC Accident Involving Motorcycle

An accident Monday left the operator of a motorcycle injured and traffic blocked in the area of Valley City High School.

The accident occurred at about 3:30 p.m at the corner of Central Avenue North and Fifth Street. The unidentified motorcycle driver was taken by ambulance to CHI Mercy Health.

NDWS Critter Corral Popular

March 9, 2015

Dozens of children got an up-close look Friday at the animals on display in the no-charge North Dakota Winter Show Critter Corral, organized and operated by Barnes County 4-H youths.

On display in cages and pens were animals including a miniature horse, calves, rabbits, hens, ducks, pigs and sheep.

Get Away and Play at the NDWS

A box full of corn kernels provided a playground for kids at the North Dakota Winter Show's Home, Play and Get-A-Way in the South Exhibit Building this weekend.

Rodney Atkins Performs at Winter Show

Country music star Rodney Atkins didn't let a little snow storm stop him from performing for his North Dakota fans Friday at the North Dakota Winter Show. The singer started his trip here with a snow storm preventing his tour bus from getting on the road.

He eventually took a flight to Jamestown to make it to Valley City to perform hits like "Take a Back Road" and "If You're Going Through Hell" to a packed crowd at the North Dakota Winter Show Main Arena.

Ridin' and Ropin' Ranch Rodeo Highlights Real-Life Ranching Skills

For the first time, a ranch rodeo was held at the North Dakota Winter Show. The rodeo featured 10 teams of cowboys and cowgirls competing in events that mimicked skills used in everyday ranch life including pasture rustling, team branding, a horse relay, pasture doctoring, team sorting and chute doctoring.

Here, a big crowd cheered on the 3-Amigos team which has separated a pair of calves from the herd and put them in a chute as they would to give medical care to the calves on the farm.
