Valley City State senior forward Brittany Lehner was named First Team All Conference Tuesday night by the North Star Athletic Association league office.
A 5-foot-10-inch forward from Watertown, S.D., Lehner is one of five players to receive First Team honors in womenâ€™s basketball after averaging 18 points and 7.2 rebounds per game this season and shooting 59.1 percent from the field, the fourth-best shooting percentage in NAIA Division II basketball.

The SVFA and Jamestown-based rescue group Prairie Paws Rescue were at the Winter Show with dogs available for adoption alongside a dog stunt team, Canine Stars, which performed three shows throughout the day.

The Open Door Center wants to spread the word to end the R-word. Wednesday, residents and staff at the Open Door Center in Valley City donned shirts saying "Shred the R-Word" in an effort to raise awareness about the hurtfulness surrounding the word "retarded."

Valley City State senior guard Aaron Duske and junior guard AJ McDonald were named to the North Star Athletic Association Menâ€™s Basketball All-Conference Team, the NSAA announced Tuesday.
Duske, of Buffalo, Minn., one of five First Team All-Conference selections, averaged 14.9 points and seven rebounds this season and reached 1,000 career points earlier in the year. He graduates with 1,375 points, which ranks him seventh in school history, scored 20 or more points in five games, and 19 times he reached double figures. Duske was the only senior on the team this year.
Eastern Dakota Conference Girls Tournament No. 4 seed Valley City figured out No. 5 seed Fargo Northâ€™s 2-3 zone early in Tuesdayâ€™s semifinal and rode junior guard Claire Olsonâ€™s double-double to a 65-50 win as three Hi-Liners in all scored double-digit points.
Valley City faces No. 1, Class A second-ranked West Fargo in the semifinals at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Fargo Civic Center. With a win, the Hi-Liners enter the EDC Championship at 6 p.m. Saturday at North Dakota State University. With a loss, Valley City plays a State qualifier Saturday at 11 a.m. at NDSU.
