First Amendment Advocate to Visit VCSU

First Amendment advocate Mary Beth Tinker will visit Valley City State University on Wednesday, giving students and others a chance to meet her during a Meet and Greet on campus.

Jefferson Debuts Master Reader Program

Jefferson Elementary School's Master Reader Program debuted Feb. 12 with nine community master readers. The goal of the Master Reader program is to bring civic leaders in to the classroom to read to students.

The goal is that by doing this students will notice that reading is a life long skill.

The readers spent approximately 30 minutes interacting with and reading to students in kindergarten through third grade.

The North Dakota Winter Show's My Trash Your Treasure indoor yard sale is returning for the 78th edition of the show at a new location – the Hi-Liner Activity Center.

Entertainment Important Part of Winter Show

Entertainment is an important part of the North Dakota Winter Show, according to manager Dawn Riley.

The Winter Show offers a variety of entertainment throughout the week, including the popular country concert Friday, weekend rodeo and the country hoedown on Tuesday.

Sadek Case Referred to ND, Minn. Authorities

The North Dakota State College of Science Campus Police Department has requested help from outside agencies in the investigation into the death of Andrew Sadek.

According to a statement released Thursday, the NDSCS Campus Police investigation into the circumstances surrounding Sadek's death is ongoing. "As part of the investigative process, NDSCS has requested additional assistance from the North Dakota Bureau of Investigation and the Minnesota Bureau of Apprehension."

Cowboy Up: Ranch Rodeo New to NDWS

A new event for the 2015 North Dakota Winter Show is a ranch rodeo on Thursday, March 5 at 7 p.m. Unlike a typical rodeo, a ranch rodeo offers real-life cowboys and cowgirls, usually ranchers and cattle farmers, the opportunity to show-off their skills including roping, horsemanship and ground working skills.

Relay Teams Raising Funds for American Cancer Society

Barnes County Relay for Life teams are busy raising funds for the American Cancer Society. Organizers of this year's event are still looking for teams to participate in the Relay Friday, June 19 on the Barnes County Courthouse lawn.

One team, Beach Busters, is selling carnations for cancer until the end of February. Carnations can be ordered from Feb. 16-27 at Dacotah Bank, MarketPlace Foods, Valley City Parks and Recreation and First Community Credit Union.

4-H Important to NDWS

Youth involved in 4-H will be an important part of this year's North Dakota Winter Show, which runs from Tuesday, March 3, through Sunday, March 8.
