Neil Patrick Harris will host the Academy Awards on February 22 and the list of who will be nominated for an Oscar has been announced. Grand Budapest Hotel and Birdman lead the nominations list with nine each. Meryl Streep nabbed her 19th nomination, and Bradley Cooper earned his third consecutive acting nod. Four Brits were nominated this year in the Best Acting categories, Felicity Jones has been nominated along with fellow British actress Rosamund Pike and Eddie Redmayne and Benedict Cumberbatch.

National Radon Action Month: Prevent Lung Cancer, Spread Awareness

Radon, according the the North Dakota Department of Health, is the second leading cause of lung cancer and Barnes County, along with all of North Dakota, is in a zone with high average naturally-occuring radon levels. More in Thursday's Times-Record.

Maple Valley Voters Decline New School

Voters in the Maple Valley School District narrowly declined a $10 million bond issue to build a new school and remodel an existing one in Tower City. More in Thursday's Times-Record.

Rodney Atkins to Headline Winter Show

Country singer Rodney Atkins will headline the North Dakota Winter Show concert this year. The "Take a Back Road" singer will take the stage at 8:30 p.m., and Fargo-based rock-country group 32 Below will open the show at 7 p.m. Friday, March 6.

Atkins, an east Tennessee native, is known for hits, "If You're Going Through Hell," "Watching You" and "Farmer's Daughter."

Faith Lutheran; One Step Closer to Rebuilding

Faith Lutheran Church will open bids for construction of a new church Wednesday.

The new building, which will replace the church building that was destroyed by an arson fire in Oct. 2013, will be a modern structure on one level, according to Faith Lutheran Church's building committee chairman Keth Hovland.
