Hi-Lo Bowling returned to the lanes on Oct. 1.

Leevers Foods won 3-1 over 20-20 Auto Center.

Valley Lumber won 3-1 over Service Master.

Bank Forward won 4-0 against J & S Ladies.

LaMoure Second at Lisbon-Enderlin

Maple Valley and LaMoure volleyball entered the 12th Annual Lisbon-Enderlin Invitational on Saturday.

LaMoure took second in the tournament by winning the Enderlin Tournament but fell to Lisbon Tournament Champion Northern Casselton, 2-1 in the tournament's final match.

Maple Valley finished third in the Lisbon Gold Pool and third in the Lisbon Consolation Tournament with a 2-1 (25-23, 23-25, 15-9) tournament win over Fairmount-Campbell/Tintah after falling 2-0 (19-25, 20-25) to Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page.

Valley City State junior wide receiver Demondre Boler is the North Star Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week after catching four passes for 117 yards and a touchdown in his first start of the season.

Dacotah Bank finished 3-1 against Wesley Acres.

Fairhill Properties won four games against Dirty Johnny's.

Farmers Union Insurance went 3-1 against Bettin's Greenhouse.

Viking Football New No. 16

Valley City State football moved up two spots to No. 16 in this week's NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll released on Monday.

VCSU (2-0 NSAA, 4-1 overall) comes off a 31-17 Homecoming win over Presentation College. The Vikings trailed 17-10 in the third quarter but scored the final 21 points of the game to stay undefeated in conference play.

Man to Discuss Armed Citizens Watch Patrol at City Meeting Tonight

October 7, 2013

During this evening's Valley City City Commission meeting, local man Bob Drake plans to discuss an armed citizens watch patrol during a public forum. Commissioners will also discuss road construction projects as well as the preliminary engineering design and construction contract for the Interstate 94 Regional Development Coordior. The commission plans to approve the second and final reading of the 2014 budget.
The meeting will be held at City Hall at 5 p.m.

Wear Orange on Unity Day, Oct. 9

Wear orange and make it end! Bullying, that is. Oct. 9 is Unity Day, and Elevate Within, along with PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center want to stop bullying, and offer creative ways for educators and parents help get the word out that "it's not OK to bully or be bullied."
On Oct. 9, Elevate Within, a local peer support organization headed by Jennifer Pickard, urges everyone to wear orange, whether it's a tee shirt, a bracelet or an orange ribbon, to give bullying victims a show of strength and a day of triumph.

BCBSND Sponsoring Health Insurance Sessions

An informational program about changes in health insurance resulting from Obamacare will take place in Valley City Oct. 23, sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota.
Other sessions sponsored by BCBSND will also take place in other larger cities throughout the state during the month of October.

Rhoades Science Center Dedicated

To dedicate the renovation and addition of Valley City State University's Rhoades Science Center, several speakers were present at a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house Friday afternoon.

Vikings Outlast Presentation

October 5, 2013

Valley City State faced North Star Athletic Association rival Presentation College in Saturday's Homecoming game, a battle of two 3-1 teams looking to take possession of first place in the conference.

Presentation took advantage of VCSU's aggressive gameplan and led 10-0 after the first quarter, but VCSU outscored the Saints 31-7 in the final three to pull out a 31-17 win and stand alone atop the NSAA.
