Lady Raiders basketball hosted Griggs County Central on Thursday night and trailed 7-6 after a quarter, but halfcourt trap double-teams and a 17-point second quarter from sophomore Rylee Nudell put Maple Valley up 34-14 at halftime en route to a runaway 63-23 win.

*A multiple-vehicle crash in downtown Valley City this summer left two women seriously injured.
*Rebuilding of Ninth Avenue Northwest was completed in late 2013.
*A massive summer flash flood left many Valley City businesses and homes and two schools damaged.
The Valley City Police Department is warning residents about a reported phone scam.
According to Police Chief Fred Thompson, some residents have received calls from a 473 area code. The phone rings a few times then stops.
DO NOT return call to this number, said Thompson. Callers reported the number is for an adult entertainment service; callers heard pornographic content upon returning the call. In addition, said Thompson, the exchange is a Granada phone number, and callers could be charged for an international phone call.

-154th Ave from 35th St to 36th St.
Valley City will host the 2014 Special Olympics North Dakota State Winter Games for the third straight year, SOND announced on Dec. 11.

An evacuation of the entire City of Casselton was initiated after
train carrying crude oil derailed near the city Monday setting off a series of explosions. Cass County officials urged residents to evacuate as shifting winds and a high pressure system could blow the thick, toxic smoke down into the city.
Barnes County States Attorney Lee Grossman is optimistic that a new program to help establish clerkships for rural counties could help increase the number of lawyers in Barnes County. More in Tuesday's issue of the Times-Record.
Vintage Variety, a new store in Valley City, offers just what the name suggests â€” a variety of vintage items.
Owner Lorraine Curtis said the store has an "eclectic assortment of everything from antiques to new."
The store, located on Central Avenue next to Wells Fargo, is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from noon to 7 p.m. and other days by chance.

Lady Loboes senior guard Tasha Piehl scored 10 points, sank all four free throws and hit two 3-pointers as LaMoure-Litchville/Marion hosted Kidder County on Friday night, but Pirates junior guard Jenna Nicholson put up 11 points and sank all four of her own free throws to lead Kidder County to a 39-32 win.
