The District 24 Democrats held their Presidential Caucus and delegate selection meeting Tuesday night at the Skoal Room at Valley City State University.
The State Democratic party had similar meetings in every district in North Dakota on Tuesday. The meetings were part of a new process of selecting delegates to send to the North Dakota Democratic Non Partisan League meeting June 16 in Bismarck. At the state meeting, delegates for the National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., from September 3 through 6 will be selected.
Valley Auto Body and Storage, LLC has purchased what used to be Quality Auto Body Shop from former owner Ken Schwanke of Fargo.
The body shop and storage units are now under local ownership. Jerry Bennefeld, Craig Larsen and Dan Taylor, all of Valley City, decided to make the investment.
âWe all three have experience with rental property and we were looking to diversify,â Bennefeld said.
Larsen said that he and Bennefeld own rental property together and are always looking to find new opportunities.

DICKINSON â In both days of the Class A state boys golf tournament, Valley City High School senior Nick Jenson saved his best for last. The last nine, that is.
In both days of the 36-hole tournament, which ended Wednesday at Dickinsonâs Heart River Municipal Golf Course, Jenson struggled in the courseâs front nine, but was able to make up for it on the back.
âI like the back nine a lot better here, so I knew Iâd make some birdies and I didâ he said.
He finished with a final score of 155, which tied for sixth place and earned him All-State honors.
VCHS golfers in hunt at state
Valley City High School boys golf team had players finish the first day of the state championship in the hunt for a placing score.
Nick Jenson leads the Hi-Liners with an 82, which is tied for 17th. The score is only four strokes off the top-5.
Ben Sorenson had an 83, which ties him for 23rd. Jared Lentz finished the day with an 84 and is tied for 31st.
The tournament wraps up today in Dickinson.
Legion team drops first four
The Valley City Post 60 American Legion baseball team opened the season with four straight losses.

The State Bar Association of North Dakota held a survey of its members for this year's judicial elections, and responses for the candidates in North Dakota Southeast Judicial District Judgeship District 8 favored Barnes County Assistant State's Attorney Brad Cruff over 17-year incumbent Judge Richard Grosz.
District 8 includes 11 counties: Barnes, Dickey, Eddy, Foster, Griggs, LaMoure, Ransom, Richland, Sargent, Stutsman and Wells. There are seven judges presiding in this district.

The American Legion and Auxiliary are pleased to announce their selections to represent their school and community at Girls State and Boys State. For the 2012 school year.
Ethan Nolte will attend Boys State at the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton beginning June 10 through June 15. Ethan is the son of Mark Nolte and Angela Hanson of Valley City.
âMom, milk break is done this week at school, so I will need something to drink and 24 birthday treats to share with everyone because my birthday is in the summer. Why does my birthday have to be in the summer, anyway?â my 8-year-old daughter exclaimed.
I think she delivered all this âend of the school yearâ and âdonât forget my birthdayâ information in one breath.
âSure, we can buy a snack for an early birthday party at school,â I replied.
âWe can have milk breaks at home, too,â I added.
City officials welcomed the new and thanked the departing during their meeting Monday. Valley Cityâs new police chief Fred Thompson was present to meet the commissioners while they welcomed him to the city.
âWeâre really, really happy to have Fred on board and part of the team,â said City Administrator David Schelkoph.
The commission also thanked Mark McDonald for stepping up and taking the interim police chief job at a difficult time.
âHe did a stellar job,â City Commissioner Jon Wagar said.
