Festival of Trees Set for Nov. 30

The Festival of Trees – a long-running fundraiser for the Mercy HealthCare Foundation – has been set for Nov. 30 in the Riverside Room of the Valley City Eagles Aerie, said Stephanie Mayfield, organizer of this year's event. More in Friday's issue of the Times-Record.

Museum Gets $500 from Beer and Wine Social Proceeds

The Valley City Rotary Club gave the Barnes County Historical Society a total of $500, which was partial proceeds from the club's beer and wine social earlier this month, Thursday morning.

Safety Training on VCSU Campus

Run, hide, fight. These are the words Valley City Police Chief Fred Thompson wants students and faculty to remember if an active shooter is ever on the campus of Valley City State University. Thompson addressed over a dozen students and faculty members Tuesday about responding to emergency situations on campus; in particular an active shooter or a chemical emergency.

Salvation Army Seeks Bell Ringers

The Barnes County Salvation Army unit is seeking volunteers to ring bells during this year's red kettle drive. The campaign, which raises money to help community members in need, begins Friday, Nov. 29, the day after Thanksgiving, and lasts until Christmas Eve.

The familiar red kettles will be set up at Leevers Foods, Marketplace Foods and Shopko in Valley City from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Disabled Vets Go Hunting

Disabled veterans from around North Dakota will soon have to participate in a special deer hunt at Camp Grafton near Grand Forks. Read more in Tuesday's Times-Record.

Feral Cats Are Rabies Concern

LaMoure 3, South Border 1; Loboes Face Linton/H-M-B for Region 3 Championship Thursday

District 5 champion Lady Loboes volleyball beat District 6 second-place South Border 3-1 (25-15, 22-25, 25-16, 25-17) in their Region 3 Tournament second-round match on Tuesday night and will face District 6 champion Linton/Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock for the championship, 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Napoleon, N.D.

Martens, Plowman NSAA All-Conference

Valley City State senior middle hitter Aurissa Martens was named the North Star Athletic Association Most Valuable Senior and made the NSAA Volleyball First Team All-Conference Team, as voted upon by coaches, the NSAA announced Tuesday.

VCSU sophomore libero Emily Plowman made the NSAA All-Conference Second Team.
