SVFA Helped 125 Animals in 2013

Pamela Erickson, Secretary/Treasurer of the Sheyenne Valley Friends of Animals, Tuesday said the organization had a busy year in 2013, helping more than 125 animals.

Casselton: Are We Prepared?

A railroad accident early last week in Casselton, resulting in an evacuation of the city, raised the question: if such an accident happened in or around Valley City, are we prepared?
The short answer: maybe.
Valley City and Casselton, along with several smaller communities in North Dakota face many of the same hazards: natural disasters; rail car accidents and I-94 traffic accidents involving tankers carrying hazardous materials are just a few of the scenarios that could provoke the need for a response from multiple agencies.

Concession Food Expo held for Hi-Liner Booster Club

A concession food expo was held at the Hi-Liner Activity Center (HAC) on Wednesday, Dec. 18 for all Hi-Liner Booster Club Board members, Valley City Public School administrative staff, PTO officers and students. The expo was offered as a way to introduce fast and easy healthy foods and recipes that can be made in a concession stand and will help increase profits.

Richman's 36 Leads Maple Valley Boys over Barnes County North

Maple Valley senior center James Richman scored 36 points — 16 of which came in a 36-point Raider third quarter — to take down Barnes County North, 63-36, in Wimbledon on Tuesday night.

Maple Valley Girls No. 1 Seed in Barnes County Tournament

Back-to-back Barnes County Girls Basketball Tournament champion Maple Valley is the top seed in this year's Barnes County Tournament that begins Tuesday, Jan. 14 at Valley City State's W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse, VCSU announced Tuesday.

Hi-Liner Wrestling Falls at Wahpeton

Hi-Liner sophomore Jake Ashline, seniors Reed Beckman, Mark Miller and Zach Doty and sophomore Jordan Magnuson notched wins as Valley City wrestling looked to hand rival Wahpeton their first Eastern Dakota Conference loss on Tuesday night, but the Huskies picked up five pins en route to a 44-26 victory.

West Fargo Escapes with Win

Lady Hi-Liner basketball led undefeated, No. 5-ranked Eastern Dakota Conference rival West Fargo for most of Tuesday night’s game, but a 50-50 tie with a minute remaining yielded a 5-1 Packer run that secured a dramatic 55-51 West Fargo win.

ON THE MOVE, Off With a Bang

Barnes ON THE MOVE is underway and already has 175 members in its first week.
According to Teresa Garrahy of Young People's Healthy Heart, the three-month program kicked-off Jan. 1 and will start offering its first classes, Walk Away the Pounds and Hand Weights, this week.
