Memorial Services for Cynthia “Cis” Burchill age 53 of Pillsbury, ND will be conducted at 11 AM, Monday, August 25, 2014, at the Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home in Valley City, ND with Rev. Dan Faust officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Cis passed away Aug. 19, 2014 at Sanford health in Fargo, ND.

Sibley Bull-A-Rama Scheduled for Labor Day Weekend

The Dazey Sodbusters Club will celebrate its 69th anniversary this year with the 11th Sodbuster Stampede Bullorama in Sibley on Sunday. Along with a full day of bull riding, dancing and pedal tractor pulling, the Sodbuster club will honor Keith Nudell as the 2014 Outstanding Sodbuster of the Year. More in Wednesday's Times-Record.

Updated Technology at VCPS

Valley City Public School buildings will now be accessible by a key fob only. Faculty and staff will receive fobs to open the doors, and guests can be admitted by pushing a button on the door. More in Wednesday's Times-Record.

Margaret DeLange

August 19, 2014

Margaret DeLange was born May 6, 1917 in Greeley, CO, the daughter of Joe and Ethel (Watson) Murray. She was baptized at St. Paul’s Church in Grand Forks, ND on April 8, 1928. She was confirmed there, May 4, 1930.
She graduated from Jamestown College June 5, 1939 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. It was here that she met the love of her life, Eugene DeLange. They were married March 17, 1940 in Miles City, MT.
Her husband was a pilot in WWII so they lived in several different cities. She was a secretary throughout her life, working for law firms and various government positions.

Baseball Factory Tests Post 60 Stars

Legion Post 60’s Jesse Johnson, Jake Miller and Ben Baasch, sporting honorary attire, showed off their skills to scouts and college coaches in Sunday’s Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryouts in Dickinson, N.D.

“Congratulations,” Baseball Factory director Bryan Dunkel wrote in respective letters to Johnson, Miller and Baasch.

Edible Garden at CCHD Building

City-County Health District invites residents to stop by the the new public health building to see the vegetables and herbs as well as various types of edible flowers that are growing in planters outside the former First Community Credit Union building that CCHD purchased.

Change of Plea Hearings Set for Faith Arson Suspects

August 19, 2014

Andrew Miklas, 25, and Nicole Lindermann, 18, are expected to plead guilty to arson and burglary charges for their roles in the October arson of Faith Lutheran Church in Valley City.

Change of plea hearings for both suspects are scheduled in Barnes County District Court for Aug. 25. Lindermann's plea hearing will be held at 2 p.m. Miklas' hearing is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
